At Our Center, we take an artistic approach to orthodontic smile design, as we believe in giving our patients beautifully functional smile.
We specialize in invisible orthodontics using the latest Lingual braces as well as Metal and Ceramic braces.
Orthodontics is a branch of dentistry which deals with the treatment of irregularities of the teeth and abnormalities in their relation to the surrounding structures. The technical term for these problems is "malocclusion", which means "bad bite".
The practice of Orthodontics requires advanced training (MDS) and professional skill in the design, application, and control of corrective appliances (Braces) to bring teeth, lips, and jaws into proper alignment and achieve perfect facial balance. An Orthodontist is a dentist with specialized education and training in orthodontics.
In addition to traditional Metal Braces here at Dr. Bothra’s Multispeciality Dental Clinic & Orthodontic Center, we provide Ceramic (tooth Coloured Braces), Gold Braces and Lingual Braces (Invisible braces) which sit behind your teeth.
Why Braces?
There are many reasons for orthodontic treatment:
• Crossbite: Top teeth are inside of the bottom teeth.
• Verticle Problem (deep bite): The top teeth overlap the bottom teeth too much. Sometimes the lower teeth are completely hidden behind the upper teeth.
• Verticle Problem (open bite): The top teeth do not touch the bottom teeth.
• Habits: Thumb or lip sucking and tongue thrust.
• Space Maintenance: If a baby tooth is lost too soon, the space needs to be maintained so that there is room for the
permanent tooth to erupt.
• Anterior/posterior Problems (Class II): The upper teeth are too far forward or the lower teeth are too far back.
• Anterior/posterior Problems (Class III): The upper teeth are too far back or the lower teeth are too far forward.
• Missing teeth: Teeth that cannot grow into the mouth or that ever formed.
• Crowding: Teeth do not have enough room to be in their normal position.
Why Our Office?
Dr. Bothra has been providing orthodontic treatment for over 4 years. He received his orthodontic training from some of the most prominent orthodontists in the nation. He stays updated in the latest in orthodontic treatment by frequently attending seminars. He has learned many excellent techniques for creating beautiful smiles. We are proud of the hundreds of beautiful smiles that have been created in our offices.
Dr. Bothra is never in a rush when it comes to determining the best course of treatment. He takes the time to carefully evaluate not only the teeth, but also the expectations of each patient who comes in. Patients are seen every four weeks and treatment is usually completed within 18 to 24 months.
Dr. Bothra only uses premium materials. Patients may select traditional stainless steel brackets or upgrade to gold or clear brackets. Patients enjoy choosing from many colors of ties each month when they come in to have their teeth checked."
When treatment is completed, our patients usually wear Acrylic plate retainers, which hold the teeth in place. Now a day we have started giving lingual permanent retainers, which will reduce pt’s burden of wearing plates day and night.
Different types of Orthodontics (Braces) treatment Availiable at our Office.
Fixed Braces
The teeth have small attachments glued to them. Fixed braces fitted to upper and lower teeth look a bit like railway lines, so some people call them "train-track braces". Fixed braces are very good for correcting complex problems. These are commonly made of stainless steel, when used for children as they are easier to keep clean. Tooth coloured ceramic or acrylic appliances are also available, and are most often used for adults. They are much more aesthetic. We also use lingual fixed appliances; this is where the attachments are glued to the back of the teeth, very helpful for straightening teeth for people in prominent positions.
Removable Braces
Removable Braces can obviously be removed, but they must be worn full-time, apart from when they have to be cleaned. Removable braces are good for correcting simple problems, such as moving a single tooth.
Functional Braces
Functional Braces - These are also removable but have to be worn full-time, except for cleaning. They are used to correct the growth pattern of the jaws. They can be used when one jaw is bigger than the other, to correct asymmetry. They can be used in conjunction with headgear to help jaws to grow correctly.
Invisible Braces
Invisible braces are applied behind the teeth as compared to metal or ceramic braces which are applied to the front of your teeth. Also called “Lingual Braces”, they are the best and only non-visible form of fixed orthodontic therapy. Although lingual braces are more expensive they offer a highly cosmetic alternative to those patients who otherwise would not consider treatment.
Invisible braces will transform the way you look. If your teeth are badly aligned now, they are also probably affecting your facial appearance. Since the alignment of your teeth contributes greatly to the way your mouth and jaws look, improved alignment results in a more attractive facial appearance. The way your teeth are aligned also affects your bite, as well as the bone and gum tissue. Proper alignment of your teeth and a correct bite promotes overall good oral health. Invisible braces are just as effective as traditional braces but as they are at the back, your teeth are not obscured and you can see your smile improve daily.
Retainers
Once the active period is completed, your braces are removed. The next step is called retention. Retainers are utilized to hold your teeth in their new positions until your bone, gums, and muscles adapt to the new teeth positions. You must wear your retainer as instructed, otherwise your teeth may move toward their original positions and the benefit of wearing your braces will be lost.
We will determine how long you need to wear your retainer. Time varies with each patient. Some people may need retainers for an extended period of time in order to eliminate shifting of the teeth. In some cases, permanent retention may be necessary. The retention period is an important part of your overall treatment and should not be neglected!Remember; wear them in your mouth, not in your pocket. Retainers work when you follow our instructions. Clean your retainers! After meals, clean all parts of the retainer with a brush.
